Chess the game of thrones
The
most popular board game in the world is chess. This millenary game is for some
too slow or too time consuming, so is backgammon or monopoly. The history of
chess spans some 1500 years. The earliest predecessor of the game probably
originated in India, before
the 6th century AD. From India, the game spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered
Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently spread to
Southern Europe. In Europe, chess evolved into roughly its current form in the
15th century. The "Romantic
Era of Chess" was the predominant chess playing style down to the
1880s. It was characterized by swashbuckling attacks, clever combinations,
brash piece
sacrifices and dynamic games. Winning was secondary to winning with style.
These games were focused more on artistic expression, rather than technical
mastery or long-term planning. The Romantic era of play was followed by the Scientific,
Hypermodern, and New Dynamism eras. In
addition there is the Chinese chess (Xiangqi ) a little bit different
because it uses artillery and some moves out of this world, but still a battle
of wits in a checkered square. Here in the Aurora Inn we have the privilege to
accommodate in one of our fine units the great Russian master Mikhail Sykov.
Mr.
Zykov approach is not about rules but about style especially about the styles
of the three main schools of chess; the Japanese, the Russian and the American.
In the American school two masters stand out, Paul Murphy and Bobby Fisher.
While in the Russian School the standout is the great champion Gary Kasparov
famous for defeating the super computer IBM (big blue,) just to be defeated
later by an updated version of Big Blue. The Russian style is aggressive is
almost as aggressive as Russian politics. The number one and most precious
principle of the Russian school is; to control as much squares as possible in
one move. An example of this principle would be to move the pawn in front of
the king 2 squares ahead or E2-E4. In opposition the most stupid first
move would be A1-A2.Russia is the largest country in the world because
principle number one, and to understand this principle look at the map of Russia.
Russian principle number 2, attack is the best defense. Putin is attacking Obama is defending; life imitates chess and chess life.

Once you learn to play
the game, is natural to want to be an outstanding player, and the only way to
become brilliant is to play, and, play, and to play again, and to loose, and to
lose again, and then you can win. The Lion is considered the king of the jungle
for his outstanding power, force, and fierceness, but in reality for every 10
tries the lion accomplish two kills 20%. Nevertheless still a formidable hunter.
(usually is the lioness who hunts for her mate.)
